With just two weeks left to enter and vote in our #UltimateJourney destination guide, we thought we’d bring you a list of our current top destinations to explore, as voted for by you, the people of South Africa.

Part 1: The top two #UltimateJourney destinations in each province

With just two weeks left to enter and vote in our #UltimateJourney destination guide, we thought we’d bring you a list of our current top destinations to explore, as voted for by you, the people of South Africa.

It all started in April with one goal in mind – to build South Africa’s most epic Road Trip. Get on the road, explore and discover the best SA has to offer, and while you’re at it, you could win an incredible road trip in a Kia Sportage valued at R50 000! (Ts and Cs apply.)

We're in the final stretch, and if you're planning a road trip to somewhere really fantastical, we’ve broken down the current top two Ultimate Destinations for each province.

In the Northern Cape

In the current number one spot is the Augrabies Falls National Park, leading the Northern Cape with 172 votes.

Voter John Ford, who has been to Augrabies Falls National Park eight times, says he experiences something new every time he visits. Livashlin Naidoo mentioned that the wonderful Augrabies Falls are among the top waterfalls in the country and he believes that they "truly evoke a feeling of awe and majesty in the South African landscape".

We also loved Desmond Langklide's comment, where he says that the "noise is so loud, you would imagine a thunderstorm is on the way."

In second place for the province is Richtersveld World Heritage Site , with 127 votes.

Some of our voters describe it as "A place forgotten in time" - Marike Swiegers, "the ulimate lekker" – Willie Matthee, "heaven on earth" – Roger Bruchhausen and "Rugged beauty" – Louis Lemmer.

If you're into Milky Way photography, voter Marina van der Merwve says this is the ultimate destination.

In the Eastern Cape

Leading the way for the province, Hogsback takes the cake with 209 votes. This magical, mystical place is also currently ranking at number 4 in our top 5 #UltimateJourney list for the whole of SA.

If you're looking for magic, here’s where you’ll find it. Rochelle Möller says she could just sit here and get lost in the scenes of absolute beauty and Kelly-Ann White says it's like being in a fairytale.

Bruce Harbottle suggests Hogsback is great for mountain biking, while Bevan Jones, Karla Mabeta and Maggie Verster have only lovely things to say about the restaurants!

Coming in at number 2 is the glorious Tsitsikamma National Park with 132 votes.

"If there is ever a place where you can truly relax and reflect on your life and the miracles of nature, this is it," writes voter Nikki Bell.

Maryke Slabbert Ciorovich calls it "God's greatest work" and Desmond Langkilde says "it's a magical part of South Africa that will leave you in complete awe".

In the Free State

Leading the province is Clarens , the artistic community that's been voted for 197 times. It also happens to be in the top 5 position on our #UltimateJourney website, as one of the most voted for destinations around the country.

Voter Tebello Mofokeng says, "The Golden Gate Route, wild animals, the restaurants and the food are amazing", while Fiona Muller says it’s "the closest one can get to heaven without being dead".

In second place, Golden Gate Highlands National Park comes in with 131 user-generated votes.

Voter Alicia Thompson says, "the spectacular mountains are breathtaking and offer a range of activates for all ages and fitness levels", while Christa van Rooyen seconds this by saying it's a "beautiful place" for great hikes.

Molebatsi Phasumane suggests being "transported back in time" by visiting the Basotho Cultural Village. Here you can meet the chief, his wives and the traditional healer in "an amazing architectural sight with stunning settings and decorations that are a feast of colour for the eyes".

In the Western Cape

Leading the WC pack and currently sitting in second place in our Top 5 #UltimateJourney destinations in SA, is the mother city - Cape Town, with 321 votes.

We're not sure what more we can say about this true South African gem, which is frequented by locals and internationals alike, other than it's no wonder Cape Town leads the way when it comes to the most coveted city in South Africa, possibly even the entire African continent.

"Who wouldn't want to go on an adventure in Cape Town?" asks voter Pulane Mota. "The fresh air, breeze, GOOD food, awesome vibes, the VIEW! YES PLEASE!" she adds.

Anneli Rousseau is all about Cape Town for the wine, while Lesego Ndlovu is all about the strawberry farms, wine farms and Robben Island.

Not forgetting the fabulous beaches of course. Kementhree Naidoo loves Boulders Beach; Macdonald Thabo rates Clifton Beach and Parlan Pather gives Boulders and Buffels Bay a thumbs up!

In second place for the Western Cape and also ranking third on our Top 5 #UltimateJourney destinations for SA is scenic Knysna with 236 votes.

Breathtaking scenery – check! Peaceful town – check! It's the "perfect place to unwind" according to voter Sandra Sefara.

Isel Steenkamp loves the big trees in the woods and Linda Joubert agrees that "you need to visit the Knysna Forrest". Linda called it a hidden gem, with kilometers and kilometers of trees, unique ferns and Chestnut Yellowwood trees.

For Shaun Albert, it's the tranquility and magical holiday memories that made him vote for Knysna as the #UltimateJourney, and for Muttalib Sheik, he "likes the adventure and [that] Knysna has something for everyone and every mood".
