Everything you wanted to know about the updated Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque has always been a standout performer in the luxury SUVs segment. It seamlessly blends style, performance, and safety, making it a great vehicle for those who seek both urban sophistication and off-road adventure.

The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mild hybrid turbodiesel engine, capable of producing 146kW power and 430Nm torque. Featuring a nine-speed automatic transmission, the Range Rover Evoque can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 213km/h.

The all-new Evoque lineup also features a hybrid powertrain that gets power from an 80kW electric motor that collaborates with a three-cylinder petrol engine delivering a combined power output of 227kW and 540Nm. The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that boasts an impressive, combined driving range of up to 651km and can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in a brisk 6.4 seconds.

The Terrain Response 2 system, accessible through Pivi Pro2, allows the driver to fine-tune vehicle settings to match the prevailing driving conditions. The options include Eco, Comfort, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Dynamic, and Automatic modes.

The first thing that captures your attention when you see the Range Rover Evoque is its sleek and modern design. The 2023 model maintains the Evoque's distinctive silhouette, with a gently sloping roofline and a pronounced front grille. The clean lines and refined curves give it a timeless and sophisticated appearance. The signature LED headlights and taillights add a touch of contemporary luxury, while the flush door handles not only enhance aerodynamics but also lend a futuristic feel to the design.

The Evoque's proportions strike a perfect balance between sportiness and elegance. Its compact size makes it ideal for city driving, yet it retains a commanding road presence.

Stepping into the Range Rover Evoque's cabin is akin to entering a world of opulence and sophistication. The interior is crafted with the finest materials, including soft-touch surfaces, premium leather, and meticulously detailed trim. For those who appreciate high-quality audio, the Range Rover Evoque offers an optional Meridian sound system with crystal-clear sound and immersive quality. Additionally, the optional Head-Up Display (HUD) projects essential information onto the windshield, allowing you to stay informed without taking your eyes off the road.

The interior of this SUV is comfortable and is packed with cutting-edge technologies. However, the major drawback here is the rear space. If you have a family of more than four members, then you might want to explore the other available options as it becomes quite challenging to accommodate more than four people in this car.

The Range Rover Evoque comes equipped with a curved 11.3-inch infotainment system running Land Rover’s latest Pivi Pro 2 infotainment software. Most features can be accessed with two taps on the screen and the new system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with Amazon Alexa capability.

When it comes to safety, the Range Rover Evoque is packed with an array of advanced features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, 7 airbags, and a surround-view camera system.

Range Rover Evoque’s biggest rivals are the Porsche Macan, Mercedes-Benz GLC Class, Audi Q5, Volvo XC 60, and BMW X3. Furthermore, if you are exploring some good options in this segment then you may also consider Land Rover Discovery Sport, Infiniti EX, and Lexus RX.

The Range Rover Evoque is available in five different variants. The D200 Dynamic SE costs R1,258,100, the D200 Dynamic HSE costs R1,310,900, and the D200 Autobiography costs R1,422,200. Coming to the hybrid Powertrains, the P300e Dynamic SE costs R1,647,900, and the P300e Dynamic HSE costs R1,702,000. (Prices correct at time of publication.)

Whether you're navigating the streets of Johannesburg, exploring the wine country of Stellenbosch, or embarking on a safari in the Kruger National Park, the Range Rover Evoque will elevate your journey to new heights. There’s no doubt that you can explore the country’s breathtaking scenery from the driver's seat of this SUV.

If you're in the market for a premium vehicle that can handle all your adventures and provide excellent comfort, the Range Rover Evoque should be at the top of your list.
