Experience next-level driving with the Ford Territory SUV

The Ford Territory is one of those mid-size SUVs that turns heads wherever it goes—yet its appeal is understated. It’s a stunning vehicle, built for everyday activities and weekend fun. Since Ford’s first Model-T launch in 1908, the brand has consistently captured the essence of driving and hasn’t failed to deliver on that legacy. It’s not often that facelifts can make a comeback quite like this, but Ford truly has pulled out all the stops. With three models to choose from, first-time SUV buyers, outdoor enthusiasts, and professionals alike can enjoy Ford’s signature comfort, designed with everyone in mind.

The Design

From first impressions, the exterior truly reflects the bold energy Ford intended. From the honeycomb grille and signature daylights to the slim LED headlights, the design impresses at every angle. Moving to the back, the rear lights complement the overall body without disrupting the uniform look, capped off by the chrome brand logo. The 19-inch alloy wheels are not just stylish but are designed to last longer than standard tyres. They help enhance performance with lighter materials, are rust-resistant, and dissipate heat for optimum safety and performance.

Interior Style and Features

 A ‘New Car’ Cabin

Take a deep breath of that fresh "new car" smell the minute you step inside. And while you enjoy that, you can also indulge in all the features the Territory’s cabin has to offer. The dashboard features a futuristic 12-inch display as part of the driver’s instrument cluster, with Auto Start-Stop Technology to ease those bumper-to-bumper traffic moments.

The Dual-Zone Air Conditioning System lets you and your passenger set the perfect temperature throughout the vehicle.

You’ll also find the Rotary e-Shifter, which replaces the traditional gear stick. When asked if e-shifters would replace manual transmissions, Luthando Ngidi, New Vehicles Sales Executive at Ford Motus, said, “With time and technology evolving, this seems to be the new trend, with e-shifters possibly replacing the old stick shifters.”

Multiple driving modes are available, including Normal, Eco, Sport, or Mountain—giving you complete control over performance and comfort. The 12.3-inch touchscreen connects wirelessly to your smartphone for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®. Additionally, wireless charging is available when you need to make that urgent call (model dependent).

Inside, the clean, modern cabin features leather-wrapped seats (Titanium models only), elevating the drive to a premium experience. Ford has also optimized the ergonomics to ensure comfort, with spaciousness for all passengers. As Ngidi adds: “The spacious interior is a big selling point. It’s one of the largest in its class, with plenty of headroom, and the back row can comfortably fit three adults. The Titanium even has a panoramic sunroof, which lets in more natural light, making the space feel even more accommodating.”

Safety Features

With the Territory’s advanced safety features, you’ll drive with confidence.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function keeps you at a preset speed and distance from the vehicle ahead.
  • Blind Spot Information System with Rear-Cross-Traffic Alert* helps spot vehicles in your blind spots (Titanium model).
  • Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Aid assist in keeping you within your lane.
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking will automatically apply the brakes if you don’t react in time to prevent a collision.
  • Hill Launch Assist & Hill Descent Control help prevent rolling when parked on an incline.
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System alerts you when any tyres are under-inflated.
    *Titanium models only.

 Engine and Performance

Powered by an 8.1-litre EcoBoost® engine paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, the Ford Territory optimises power, fuel efficiency, and performance across various driving conditions. It delivers a maximum power output of 138 kW at 5,200 rpm, a top speed of about 190 km/h, and a maximum torque of 318 Nm between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. This configuration prioritises fuel consumption and practicality over high-speed capabilities.

The vehicle runs on petrol only, with no diesel derivatives. This decision aligns with market trends favouring more sustainable, cost-efficient powertrains over diesel engines.

Pricing

The Ford Territory comes in three models: Ambiente, Trend, and Titanium.

  • Ambiente: R590,000
  • Trend: R646,600
  • Titanium: R721,000

(Prices correct at time of publication.)

The Road Ahead

From intelligent safety features to unparalleled comfort, there’s no telling what Ford has planned next. The three available derivatives offer excellence in both driving performance and overall enjoyment. While future facelifts are unknown, we can fully enjoy the current offerings Ford has created.
