Ford confirms the new Mustang for SA in 2024

Fasten your seatbelts and get ready to witness the latest version of your favourite muscle car, the Ford Mustang, hitting South African roads. Ford has recently revealed the launch of the 7th generation Mustang in the country. The automaker also states that it’s going to be the most exhilarating and visceral version of the Mustang ever. The all-new Mustang features a fighter jet-inspired digital cockpit and more advanced turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines.

Several tweaks to the exterior perfectly complement the Mustang’s timeless design and contribute to making the car more aerodynamic. From convertible to coupe, 4-cylinder to V-8, manual to automatic, Ford stays true to the legendary design of the Mustang. The vehicle gets two engine options, the 2.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a 5.0-litre Naturally Aspirate Coyote V8 engine. The 5.0-litre V8 still provides a standard six-speed manual transmission for those seeking an uncompromised connection to the potency of eight cylinders. Additionally, Ford's 10-speed automatic transmission is also available, swiftly adjusting its shift patterns to align with the chosen drive mode.

The 2024 Mustang also features an all-new lineup of alloy wheels, ranging from the standard 17-inch wheels on the base variants to the 19-inch wheels on the GT line which can be upgraded to 20 inches.

The major update in the vehicle is the interior. The all-new Mustang comes equipped with a driver-focused cockpit that features a curved 13.2-inch SYNC 4 infotainment screen along with a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster. Beyond the screen is an all-new race-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel that elevates the overall look of the cockpit and provides more space while seating. The design of the centre dashboard is also revamped, and it looks good while also offering plenty of storage space.

Apart from cosmetic changes and upgraded features, the 2024 Mustang also gets various ADAS features. Equipped with Ford Co-Pilot360 features, the new Mustang includes Speed Sign Recognition, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering Assist, Evasive Steer Assist, and Reverse Brake Assist. Owners can even maintain a seamless connection with their vehicle through the FordPass app, enjoying complimentary remote features like initiating and stopping the vehicle remotely, locking and unlocking doors, scheduling start times, locating the vehicle, and performing health and status checks. The FordPass app also provides users with crucial vehicle information such as fuel and oil levels, service history, and warranty details.

The Ford Mustang has a rich history of being an iconic and powerful muscle car. Each iteration brings updates in design, technology, and performance. This latest version blends modern amenities with classic Mustang styling. We can’t wait to see this beast driving on SA’s roads!
