The 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero is made for adventure

The legendary seven-seater Mitsubishi Pajero has been a firm South African favourite for three decades. It doesn’t matter if you take it to the bush, over Sahara dunes, or up a mountain pass; you will find it equally capable on all terrains. In this blog, we look at the 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero and why we believe this vehicle continues to be one of the top SUVs in the country.

You can instantly recognise the 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero with its eye-catching chrome radiator grille, 18" alloy wheels, side steps, and bold bumper, integrated fog lamps, and LED Daytime Running Lamps. Furthermore, the SUV features High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps to deliver the best night visibility. The Automatic headlamp levelling ideally suits travels on steep inclines. The rearview camera activates as soon as you engage the reverse gear. Mitsubishi is offering the 2021 Pajero in only three colours: Pearl White, Sterling Silver, and Graphite Grey.

The interior is luxuriously and ergonomically designed. Inside, you get leather-wrapped controls, high contrast meters, flexible seating, and multiple storage spaces. The multi-function steering wheel features Bluetooth and hands-free voice control. Moreover, the multi-information display offers you all the info you require and even comprises a compass, a barometer, and an altimeter.

You can stow the third-row seats under the cargo floor to make a wide, flat storage space for groceries, suitcases, or heavy cargo. You can also fold the second-row seats forward to maximise the storage.

The 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero is not just an attractive 4x4 with bold design and sleek lines. The proven durability of the 3.2-litre 16-valve DI-DC (Direct Injection Diesel) engine also makes this SUV extremely desirable.

Perhaps, the best part about the new Pajero is the Super Select II 4WD system providing four different drive modes for enhanced drive control and occupant safety. These include 2WD High Range, 4WD, 4WD High, and Low Range with locked centre differential. You can switch between these modes via a four-wheel-drive selector dial.

The Japanese automaker has equipped the Pajero with 6 airbags, ABS (multi-mode Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution Body Construction), ASTC (Active Stability and Traction Control) to maintain traction and prevent wheel spinning, Rear Park Distance Control, BAS (Brake Assist System), and Rear View Camera.

The automaker is offering only two variants of the 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero, both featuring the same engine. The Short Wheelbase variant starts at R739,995, while the Long Wheelbase model costs R829,995. Both the models come with 3 years/ 100,000 km manufacturer's warranty, 5 years unlimited mileage roadside assistance, and 5 years / 100,000 km maintenance plan with service intervals every 10,000 km.

The 2021 Mitsubishi Pajero is a highly capable utility vehicle that can travel across South Africa without bother. The adventure-made machine allows you to conquer dunes, jungles, and mountains alike with no fuss at all. However, the ladder-frame SUV is showing signs of ageing and might be phased out in the future.
