The 2024 Opel Corsa’s debut and review

The Opel Corsa needs no introduction. This memorable model has shaped generations since its release in 1982. For over 40 years, the South African market has seen approximately 14 million Opel Corsa vehicles on the roads and has revolutionised its class as the small car.

For those who are familiar with Opel’s drive and want something that looks and behaves like a hatchback, then look no further. The 2024 Opel Corsa hosts a number of fantastic mod updates.

Bringing sexy back

The stylish front-end revamp will immediately direct your attention towards the Matrix headlights, meticulously enhanced by its controllable LED elements. These “stadium-bright” lights ensure maximum visibility for the driver, as well as remain glare-free for oncoming traffic.

Just below the boot, the exhaust’s metallic housing says sporty, but it doesn’t get too carried away. And let’s not forget about the 16-inch alloy wheels for the Lite and edition models.

Each trim comes in a variation of colours. However, the GS line offers more of a sophisticated edge when it comes to detail. For example, the badge is finished in both black and matte silver satin. You can also elevate the Corsa’s character with the black two-tone roof and mirrors (GS line only).

Aside from its sleek outer appearance, Opel Corsa’s interior has stuck to a stylish, ergonomic design, especially noticeable in the digitally enhanced cabin. Once inside, the dash holds the 10-inch IntelliLink infotainment system, a feature that connects effortlessly to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. If you’re connected via Bluetooth, you won’t have to worry about battery as wireless charging is available, especially for the cableless generation.

The seating has undergone a slight makeover in design, along with the steering wheel and shift lever. Cloth sits with both the Lite and Edition model, but leatherette is available with the GS-line. As for the boot size, the space comfortably holds 309ℓ, a pretty nifty size for your getaway essentials.

The vroom experience

Both the Corsa Lite 1.2 and the Edition model pump out a modest 74 kW M/T, while the GS Line powers up at a very nippy 96 kW A/T. You’ll be gearing up with its 6-speed transmission, getting you at a decent and comfortable speed on our national highways and in the city. Not to mention, the fuel consumption of 5.7-6.3 ℓ/100 km.
