Volvo XC40 coming to South Africa in 2021!

Volvo Car South Africa has confirmed the launch of the XC40 Recharge. This is the Swedish car company’s first fully electric production vehicle and is due to launch in South Africa soon! This vehicle pushes boundaries with a heated steering wheel and an unparalleled driving experience.

Volvo has chosen its small but capable family hauler to be its first all-electric olive branch to buyers who might have previously been tempted by the well-established charms of the Tesla Model Y or pricier mainstream offerings like the Audi E-tron.

2021 is filled with excitement and optimism for Volvo Car South Africa and they are determined to meet the needs and wants of the Volvo customer. Greg Maruszewski, managing director of Volvo Car South Africa confirmed that the newcomer was definitely on the cards for the South African market. Greg also mentioned that the brand’s plug-in hybrid range is already enjoying growth in the South African car market.

Revealed in October 2019, the Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 features an electric all-wheel-drive powertrain offering a claimed range of more than 400km and a peak output as high as 300kW. The obligatory zero to 100 km/h sprint is taken care of in a claimed 4,9 seconds, while top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge is a bold step that challenges the traditional luxury vehicle segment on price but does not compromise on power.
