Pulp Fiction: The accidental murder

Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta are having the famous “Royale with cheese conversation” when the latter accidently shoots their passenger at the back, leaving behind a whole lot of blood and gore.

Back to the Future: Doc Brown's DeLorean DMC-12 makes its entrance

“The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?Besides, the stainless steel construction makes the flux dispersal- look out!” says Doc Brown to Marty as he unveils the time machine he built, a plutonium-powered time machinecomprised of a DeLorean DMC-12 sports car that had to reach 88 miles per hour in order to time travel.

The Shining: the eerie drive

You don’t always need jump scares and gore to make a movie scary. The opening scene from The Shining is a fairly normal scene, but it has strong undertones of terror, as a family drives on a long and winding road to the Overlook Hotel. It’s the perfect introduction for the horror that follows in the film.

Se7en: the final scene

Kevin Spacey puts in a masterful performance as the sadistic killer in this movie, and he is driven in a cop car with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt to the sight of buried evidence. This drive leads to the most macabre twist in the whole film.

Jurassic Park: the first encounter with a T-Rex

We know the terrifying T-Rex dinosaur makes its appearance just after the glass of water sitting onthe dashboard of the Ford Explorer ripples. Lex and her brother Tim have to fend off a fierce-looking and hungry dinosaur, while being trapped in a Jeep is one of Steven Spielberg’s most memorable movie scenes.

Titanic:the steamy love scene

Kate and Leo’s characters make steamy love in a car parked in the cargo area of the ship, with the former leaving a handprint on the window in ecstasy. This scene proves that you don’t need to show any nudity to make for a very hot scene.

Groundhog Day: the car chase

Trapped and living the same day over and over again, Bill Murray steals a Chevrolet C-10 and takes it on a joyride, with Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog on his lap. He is chased, and drives off a cliff, where the car explodes.

Wayne’s World: Bohemian Rhapsody

This is the happiest, most singalong musical car moment with lip-syncing, moving and head banging in perfect rhythm to Queen’s superb Bohemian Rhapsody.

Goldfinger: the introduction of the DB5 Bond car

While we’ve seen many Aston Martins in Bond films, the most memorable scene is when Sean Connery’s 007 is introduced to his technologically advanced DB5 in Goldfinger. The DB5 has since became the most recognised cinematic Bond car.

Thelma and Louise: driving off a cliff

The ending to this movie has become a classic scene, with Thelma and Louise choosing to drive off and “keep going” down the cliff in their green Ford Thunderbird convertible. They kiss, Louise hits the accelerator, and they go off the cliff, into the Grand Canyon.

Smokey and the Bandit: the jump

It might be dated today, but this car jump scene over the Mulberry Bridge inspired every other car jumping scene after, from Dukes of Hazard to Speed.
