There are lots of stops and possible stayovers while heading to Kruger National Park. There are charming towns such as Dullstroom and Sabie and lovely places of interest to stop at before you reach the park, as well as spectacular waterfalls, Pilgrim’s Rest and the Blyde River Canyon.


The Waterberg region in Limpopo is around three hours from Johannesburg. It’s a popular safari destination, and is considered by locals as “Africa’s Eden”.

The Waterberg Meander is a 350km route that takes you through the Waterberg Biosphere, and includes Welgevonden Game Reserve and Marakele National Park. The route also passes community projects, and several historical, cultural and environmental sites.


Considered one of the country’s most beautiful parts, the Wild Coast runs from East London to the border of KwaZulu Natal. Highlights include local heritage sites, and beautiful unspoilt beaches.


This is one of South Africa’s most beautiful routes, and follows the N2 highway along the coast, from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to Storms River in the Eastern Cape. There are plenty places to stop, either for their beaches (Wilderness and Plett), charm (Knysna) or adventure (Tsitsikamma, and Bloukrans for bunjee jumping).


This trip between the Western and Eastern Cape goes through Cape Town, Oudtshoorn and Port Elizabeth. You’ll see many landscapes – from mountains, sea and vineyards to rivers and orchards. Attractions include game reserves, ostrich-farm visits, caves and beaches.
