What are my responsibilities as a Service Plan customer?

Keeping up with scheduled car services is an important part of responsible car ownership. If you’ve invested in a Service Plan through MotorHappy you’re already one step ahead. However, to ensure you get the most out of the plan, it’s important to know your responsibilities as the policy owner.

  What is a Service Plan?

Investing in a Service Plan for your vehicle keeps your car on the road, maintains a higher resale value, and keeps your vehicle repairs affordable. A vehicle Service Plan pays for recommended scheduled services completed by approved dealers. A Service Plan through MotorHappy also includes perks such as roadside assistance, towing, and even a fuel run. Click here to find out more.

What are my responsibilities as the holder of a Service Plan?

It is your responsibility to avoid being in default or in breach of the Service Plan agreement, and reading this blog post is a good start! You can access all your policy documents in the MotorHappy DRIVE portal. Have you registered yet?

Below are your responsibilities as the policy-holder:

  • Have your car serviced as per manufacturer requirements and within the stipulated time limits. You will find this information in your vehicle service manual. You can also set up reminders for services in the MotorHappy Drive portal.
  • Follow the service procedure. Contact MotorHappy to confirm your policy status before booking your car into an approved OEM or RMI dealership of your choice. When booking your vehicle, tell the service advisor that you have a Service Plan through MotorHappy. Allow the dealership to work on your car only after receiving authorisation from MotorHappy. Authorisation could take up to 48 hours.
  • Take all reasonable steps to keep your car in good, roadworthy condition, and perform regular preventative maintenance on your car.
  • Drive responsibly.
  • Take all reasonable steps to protect your car from further loss or damage if mechanical or electrical failure occurs.
  • Adhere to the limitations set out in your owner’s manual in terms of weight and number of passengers.
  • Use your car for its intended purpose only. This means don’t take your city car on a 4x4 adventure or don’t turn your family car into a taxi or use it as an Uber (where you are paid to transport people), etc.
